Morecraft Ready To Muzzle McCorkle

“He (Sean McCorkle) is a big talker. I think he’s a lonely guy looking for friends.” - Christian Morecraft

Sean McCorkle is back at it again.

Three months after incessantly heckling Stefan Struve in interviews and on Twitter before their UFC 124 fight, McCorkle is now directing his verbal swipes at Christian Morecraft, who will be his opponent at UFC Fight Night on March 26 in Seattle, Washington. While Struve was visibly irked by McCorkle’s taunts, Morecraft seems unaffected by the insults.

“He’s a big talker. I think he’s a lonely guy looking for friends,” said Morecraft, a 6-foot-6-inch 260-pounder. “I’ve got three, five-minute rounds with the guy and that’s all I have to say.”

Pre-fight comments aside, Morecraft and McCorkle have a few things in common, from their similar frames to the fact that both men have been defeated by Struve. The 24-year-old Morecraft, who trains with Team Bombsquad in upstate New York, said nerves contributed to losing his UFC debut.

“I was in the locker room looking around at guys that were my heroes,” he said. “I never thought I’d be warming up in the same area as Matt Hughes and Chael Sonnen. I just let it (the moment) get bigger than it was and didn’t stay calm. Now I know not to get caught up in all of the hype. It’s just a fight.”

Morecraft, who was born in Washington, D.C. and changed states often because his father was in the United States Air Force, is unique among UFC fighters because he did not participate in any high school athletics during his teenage years. Athletic for his size, Morecraft has been training MMA for four years and none of his fights has ever gone past the second round.

“I’m fired up after my first loss,” he said. “I’m coming out with a fury and I can win this fight in many different ways. I can’t wait to send him (McCorkle) his walking papers.”

Other than fighting, Morecraft loves the New York Giants and legendary linebacker Lawrence Taylor. Music is his other passion. He is a huge fan of heavy metal music and concerts.

“I’m still a big fan of Slayer, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, KISS, Metallica, and Guns and Roses,” he said.
