Wednesday Fight Update

The upcoming Thanksgiving holiday has not slowed down UFC matchmakers Joe Silva and Sean Shelby, as four bouts have been added to the upcoming schedule.

The UFC 183 card in Las Vegas on January 31 continues to set a high bar for 2015 fight action, with the latest addition being a lightweight matchup between surging Al Iaquinta and UFC bonus king Joe Lauzon that should not only move the winner up the rankings, but also earn him east coast bragging rights.

Thirteen days before Lauzon and Iaquinta throw down in Las Vegas, it will be a New England turf war in Boston, as Peabody, Massachusetts' Charles "Boston Strong" Rosa faces Providence, Rhode Island's Sean Soriano in a UFC Fight Night featherweight bout on January 18.

Plus, on February 28 in Los Angeles, Japanese star Kid Yamamoto makes his long-awaited return to the Octagon to face Roman Salazar in a UFC 184 bantamweight bout, and in a change to a flyweight matchup on December 13th's UFC on FOX card in Phoenix, Jussier Formiga has been forced from his bout against John Moraga due to injury, with newcomer Willie Gates getting the call to step up and face the Arizona native.
