Tuesday Evening Fight Update

Upcoming UFC events in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Newark, New Jersey got new fights Tuesday evening, with the promotion announcing verbally agreed to bouts in the lightweight and light heavyweight divisions.

On their way to the Ginasio do Maracanazinho in Rio de Janeiro on March 21 will be 155-pounders Francisco "Massaranduba" Trinaldo and Akbarh Arreola. Brazilian favorite Trinaldo has won four of his last six bouts, including a September 2014 decision victory over Leandro Silva. Mexican veteran Arreola is 4-1 in his last five, and his most recent win is his biggest to date, as he submitted Yves Edwards last November to earn his first UFC wins.

On April 18, the light heavyweight bout between TUF 19 winner Corey Anderson and Long Island's Gian Villante originally scheduled for last December will finally take place at Newark's Prudential Center.

Villante, initially forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury, returns to the Octagon looking to build off his Fight of the Night win over Sean O'Connell last June. Anderson is currently unbeaten as a pro and 2-0 in the UFC, having defeated Matt Van Buren and Justin Jones.
