Biografia

TRAINING: A typical day of training would be mid morning training on technique or conditioning, depending on the day, and evening training with more intensity and putting the rounds in with whatever discipline we’re training. I sprint three times a week and focus on doing one recovery session per day of no specific length.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I trained and competed in martial arts most of my life. However, with a stint in the military and deployments, that all stopped for at least a few years. I'd had an operation in 2008 and needed to get fit again, so kickboxing was it. I started in January 2009, I had a couple of amateur fights and was convinced to do BJJ, which led to my first amateur MMA fight, and from there I was addicted.

What ranks and titles have you held? I have the XFC Australia and Brace Australia lightweight title and recently successfully defended the XFC belt. I'm currently ranked third in Australia/New Zealand.

Do you have any heroes? I wouldn't say I have heroes, but I certainly do look up to people in my life that I believe have traits that I can learn from and adopt to be a better person or martial artist. I enjoy watching a number of top ranked fighters for various reasons.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? For me, being in the UFC is an opportunity to showcase my skills on a much larger scale. It's an opportunity to give back to those that have given so much to me. I'm married to the most patient person ever, as I'm sure most married fighters are, and this has always been my goal in the topic of fighting, so to give this opportunity back to her is rewarding in itself. Fighting in the UFC will give me opportunities I never thought existed.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I never went to college. I left school early and completed an apprenticeship in Baking and completed some business and management courses.

What was your job before you started fighting? Prior to becoming a fighter, I was enlisted in the Australian Army as an Infantry soldier and posted to the 2nd Battalion.

If any, list ranks in any martial arts styles: Black Belt - Zen Do Kai, Purple Belt - BJJ

Favorite grappling technique: I don't really have a favorite - I just like being able to chain attacks together.

Favorite Striking technique: Elbows
