Biografia
When and why did you start fighting? "I had my first fight December 6, 1997. I entered a local tournament in Houston that did not allow strikes to the head. I did it just to compete, there’s nothing more exciting than competition."
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? "It gives credibility to my name as an instructor, and a fighter. But what it means the most is that everything I’ve done to get to this point has not been in vain. To me it’s a compliment because Zuffa only wants the best in the world and I’m one of the guys that they want, that’s flattering."
What is your biggest weapon in a fight? "I think my best weapon is exploiting a weakness once I’ve found it. The fights I've won haven’t always been because I was a better fighter, but because I found an opponent's weakness versus one of my strengths. Then, when I find it, I stay on it like a pit bull."
What is your favorite technique? "I don’t really have one favorite technique. I like everything that works. I love kicking guys in the head, I like landing knees to their faces, and I love landing that picture perfect uppercut. Everything else is fun too, but those are my favorites."
