When and why did you start training for fighting? I started watching Pancrase fights and that got me started. I saw UFC 1 and that got me hooked. I started watching all of them and went from there.

What ranks and titles have you held? Spirit MC Middleweight Champion and Pan American Pankration Champ in 2001.

Do you have any heroes? Vietnam Vet Doug Hegdal. He was a POW in Vietnam and I got a chance to meet him when I was in the Navy.

What is your favorite technique? The sharpshooter.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? Means everything to me and all the people around me. It’s a dream come true for me, my family, and friends.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Training full-time and no time for college now.

What was your job before you started fighting? Naval Air Crewman / Rescue Swimmer in the Navy.
